Wzmacnianie konstrukcji dróg geosyntetykami
publisher: Wydawnictwa Komunikacji i Łączności
ISBN: 9788320619294
published in: 2014
language: pl
Summary: The technique of roads improvement with the use of geosynthetics is presented. The action of geosynthetic reinforcement incorporated into bituminous layers, as well as its functioning within aggregate layers of pavement structures is discussed. The beneficial effect of reinforcement on the ultimate bearing capacity of pavement subgrade is analyzed. The effectiveness of geosynthetics layers in delaying the propagation of reflective cracks and in limiting road structure deformation under large numbers of traffic loads is discussed. Monograph, apart from the presentation of the main research results in the field, contains chapters which discuss the characteristics of geosynthetics, methods of their investigation, and principles of their design. Particular attention is focused on factors strongly affecting the beneficial effect of geosynthetic reinforcement. It also presents the requirements that road structures need to fulfill. The book is addressed to all specialists (engineers and scientists) interested in the applications of geosynthetics in road structures.

Geotechnical aspects of multi-use offshore platforms
publisher: Wydawnictwo IBW PAN
ISBN: 9788385708780
published in: 2015
language: en
Summary: Multi-use offshore platforms (MUPs) are a new challenge in geotechnical and marine engineering, as several elements of these structures, including their foundations, which are subject to complex hydrodynamic and seismic loads, require novel technical solutions. The present book deals with selected geotechnical aspects of MUPs, not sufficiently explained in other publications and guidelines. Particular attention is paid to the problem of seabed liquefaction and to the methodology of modeling marine engineering problems.

Geosyntetyki w budownictwie wodnym

Summary:
Geosynthetics are applied in many types of maritime structures. They are used to build breakwaters, dykes, groins, revetments and many others. Geosynthetics also work as filtration, separation, drainage and reinforcement layers in waterfront areas.
In this book, the author presents the current state-of-the-art in regard to the potential use of geosynthetics in hydro-engineering. Special attention is paid to the principles of designing different kinds of geosynthetic elements (such as: geotubes, geocontainers, geobags and others) which are widely used in waterfront areas. The main conclusions from a few years of research on this topic conducted by the Institute of Hydro-engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Gdańsk are presented. The publication also describes the principles guiding the criteria of choosing geosynthetics for particular applications, as well as the research necessary before they can be used in maritime structures.
