Between May 26 and 30, 2025, the Institute of Hydro-Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IBW PAN) hosted Professor Carla Faraci from the University of Messina. Her visit took place at the invitation of Dr. Barbara Stachurska and was organized as a study visit supported by the International Cooperation Office and funded by the Polish Academy of Sciences.

The purpose of the visit was to carry out planned experiments in the wave flume of the Department of Wave Mechanics and Structural Dynamics at IBW PAN. The research focused on analyzing the influence of surface wave motion on the transport of plastic pellets moving along a ripple-covered seabed.

The measurement campaign was successfully conducted, yielding a rich dataset and numerous valuable insights, which constitute a significant contribution to the advancement of research on plastic pollution transport in the marine environment.
