1. Is ENCORA a project, a programme or a network?
ENCORA is a network of networks. The ENCORA Consortium consists of coordinating institutions of national networks, thematic networks or international networks. ENCORA members are research or practitioners institutions having signed a cooperation agreement with a national or international coordination institute, which is represented in the Consortium. ENCORA is supported by:
2. Can individual researchers and practitioners participate in ENCORA?
Yes, you can become participant in ENCORA if you are working in the field of coastal science, coastal management or coastal policy. You only have to send an email to your National Coordination Office or to one of the Theme Coordination Offices and indicate in which theme(s) you would like to participate. 3. Does ENCORA define and/or carry out research projects?
No. ENCORA is not an instrument meant to lead or steer research on European coastal zones. ENCORA facilitates and/or co-funds networking initiatives which are defined and carried out by member institutions and participants, such as partner finding, project intertwining, exchange of researchers and practitioners and communities of practice, sharing of infrastructure, interdisciplinarity, dissemination of knowledge, etc. Each ENCORA member institute remains fully responsible for its own research projects.
The Coordination Offices of ENCORA are financially supported by the EU. Other funding is provided by the ENCORA Consortium Institutes.

The benefits members can gain from participating to the ENCORe network are manyfold:
6. How can an institution request fundings to ENCORA?
ENCORA may bear part of the additional costs for realising the young researchers/practitioners exchange programme or for participation in ENCORA workshops. Requests for financial assistance must be submitted to the national desk or theme desk. Requests are ranked by the ENCORA Steering group, according to criteria specified in the ENCORA programme (in preparation). Research activities cannot be funded.
