Streszczenie: The book presents a description of mechanisms associated with the surface water wave propagation over an uneven bottom. The book can be divided into two parts. In the first (chapters 1-6) the two main wave transformation processes for constant water depth such a dispersion and non-linearity of governing equations are described. Second part is focused on problems related to the bottom influence on the wave transformation. The particular attention has been paid to mathematical techniques which can be useful for practical applications. The original theory of water wave propagation is proposed in chapters 10-15, which seem to be the most important part of this book. This theory, based on the Lagrangian type formalism, describes the wave propagation over an uneven bottom. Equations of motions are derived from the Hamilton principle applied to the Lagrangian function corresponding to the difference of kinetic and potential energy. Numerical simulations based on the theory proposed have been verified experimentally, in terms of wave measurements in a wave flume.
