Archives of Hydro-Engineering and Environmental Mechanics cover the broad area of disciplines related to hydro-engineering, including: hydrodynamics and hydraulics of inlands and sea waters, hydrology, hydroelasticity, ground-water hydraulics, water contamination, coastal engineering, geotechnical engineering, geomechanics, structural mechanics, etc.

The main objective of Archives of Hydro-Engineering and Environmental Mechanics is to provide an up-to-date reference to the engineers and scientists engaged in the applications of mechanics to the analysis of various phenomena appearing in the natural environment, due to human activities as well as to the problems connected with the influence of the Nature on human-made structures and objects. Such problems have usually been studied using applied mathematics and mechanics tools. Theoretical, experimental and practice-oriented papers on various topics, such as those mentioned at the beginning, are welcomed. Papers are selected for publication through a peer review process based on their significance and originality. AHEM is opened to all scientists and engineers from Poland and abroad.

Instruction for authors

General

All papers are reviewed by at least two reviewers, who are renowned experts in the field of submitted paper.

On submitting papers authors give assurance that the paper has neither been sent for publication nor has been published in another Journal.

Papers should fit within the scope of the Journal.

The papers should be written in good scientific or engineering English.

Submission of papers

The manuscript should be supplied to the Editorial Office in a printed form (3 copies) with a diskette, or by e-mail in formats Tex or Word for Windows.

The first page of the paper should include:

• the title (preferably not longer than 1 line), capital, bold, 14 p.,
• name(s) of the author(s), their affiliation, address, and e-mail. In case of several authors, the principal author should be indicated,
• abstract of not more than 300 words giving the main idea of the paper,
• 4 to 5 key words.

The paper should start with introduction followed by the text. The paper should end with conclusions, list of references (bibliography), and the list of symbols used in the paper.

References in the text should be given by the name of the author and the year of publication in parentheses eg. (Kowalski 1994). References in other than English language should be translated into English with information about language of origin eg. (in Polish), (in Russian). The reference list should be in alphabetic order. The reference list should contain only references mentioned in the text. References should include title of the paper, page numbers, title of the Journal and vol. number. For books publishers name and place should be given.

All illustrations should be supplied on separate sheets, numbered consecutively (Arabic numerals) and referred to in the text in form Fig. 1. The maximum size of figure is 140 x 200 mm. Lettering must be legible at the reduced size of 50%. All figures should be either prepared on tracing paper and supplied on separate sheets or given in electronic form with extensions: ps, cdr, bmp, tif, jpg. Figure captions should be supplied on a separate sheet. They should be numbered consecutively.

Tables should be tipped on separate sheets, numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals with brief title above each table. Referred in the text in the form: Tabl. 1.

Equations should be typed separately and numbered (Arabic numerals) consecutively through the paper in parenthesis flush right. Referred in the text: Eq. 1.

Text should be typed in 12 p. with double spacing and 25 mm margin on all sides. The maximum length of the paper is 10 000 word-equivalents or approximately 30 pages including figures, tables and references.

The SI system of units must be used.

Photographs should be avoided. In case they are indispensable they should be in the form of good quality enlargement prints on glossy paper. Photographs should be named Figures and referred in the text: Fig. 2.
